Three young Tauranga actors have landed the role of a lifetime as Matilda Wormwood, an extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.

 

This captivating and delightful musical, inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl and with a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, has won over 100 international awards, including 24 for Best Musical.

Packed with high-energy dance, catchy songs and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matilda is a joyous girl power romp that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a precocious and brilliant young girl who dreams of a better life.

 

Tauranga Musical Theatre’s season runs from 21 September to 7 October at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketek.
